Victim Awareness Day in Jamestown
Every victim matter


Jamestown women and Family services hosted a National Victim of Crime Awareness on April 24,2010 at Greenholme Junior Middle School which was our fifth annual conference. It is an opportunity to raise awareness about services that are available to victims and their families, and laws in place to help victims of crime.
This event was well attended by community members, frontline workers, community organizations, and family of victims to obtain knowledge and resources related with criminal justices system, crown attorney, support available to victims/victim witness, police and also crisis response program.
The presenters were a high profile speakers, such as lawyers, police, board of education, city of Toronto personnel and politicians and main stream organizations. It was an educational day for the community and also to establish networking partnership with service providers within the community, police and city of Toronto. There were a lot of resources and handouts to display at the event. e e Participants were given a wonderful opportunity to make connection and learn the support available for victims of crime.
Jamestown women and Family Services believe that every victim of crime no matter who they are should be treated with compassion, respect for their dignity. We strongly believe education is very essential to close the gap of violence and crime and increase the opportunities for quality of employment and good citizenship.
