Muqdisho Football Club

Muqdisho Football Club, established in 2009, is a non-profit organization of long standing in the Somali community. The Goal and Objective of the club is to build and encourage sportsmanship among the youth of our community by fostering and teaching the game of soccer. The club’s vision is to provide grassroots programming to help bring the next generation of elite Somali-Canadian world-class soccer athletes.
Our Mission is “To Provide the Highest Standards of Soccer Development & Enjoyment for ALL our Players from House League to Senior Levels in order to Capture National and Provincial Titles while sharing our Success with ALL members of the Club within our Community under a FAIR and HONORABLE system”.
Since we started, which is one year ago we had successful year 2009-2010 season with over 80+ registered boys players, divided in age groups: from 5 years old to 16 years old.
Muqdisho Football Club, the parents and volunteers also appreciate the many other benefits soccer has on their children’s lives. From its ability to help build team-working skills and active lifestyle habits, to being a great escape from the many negative distractions synonymous with growing up in the city, soccer has an endless supply of positive influences on children’s lives one can’t help but appreciate.
2010 Muqdisho Football Club registered the under 11 yrs players (U11) with Ontario Soccer Association (OSA) and Toronto Soccer Association (TSA) to participate recreational, competitive and house league tournaments. Muqdisho FC U11 players has participated exhibition games with TSA competitive games. This was big step for our community and the Muqdisho FC; we are proud to promote our players and to show them soccer doesn’t end inside our community.
The Muqdisho Football Club (MFC) hosted its first anniversary and closing ceremony season ending tournament on May 29th, 2010, marking the success of its first year with trophies and medallions. In year one, the club built a membership base of over 80 players ages 5 to 16. That number is expected to more than double next year due to the club’s popularity within the Somali Community.
Mogasdisho Football Club is a VOLUNTEER organization, managed by volunteers, supported by volunteers, and coached by volunteers. The league desperately needs your help to volunteer in support of the Kids and the League. If you see things about the League that could be improved, please consider volunteering your time to make things better for our youth.
Soccer is one of the most popular sports played in Canada. According to FIFA's Big Count, 2,695,712 people played in Canada in 2006,[1] arguably making soccer one of the most popular sports in Canada.
Muqdisho FC Management and coaching staff are all qualified coachs and have The Ontario Soccer Association certificates
